Henrys Law - Here Are Its Benefits

Henry's Law - Here Are Its BenefitsThe Henry's Law Definition is that: 'There is a law in the universe that applies to everything except to human beings'. This law states that the product of a natural substance is that of a working method of its qualities and attributes. A man using this law to his advantage can extract and convert a particular thing into a solution that suits his needs, tastes and hobbies. Such a solution can be classified as one of the best in the market. It was in 1847 when chemist Alfred Nobel discovered Henry's Law and claimed the right to the Nobel prize for chemistry. This law of chemistry is also known as the conservation of energy and it dictates that the total amount of work done by a chemical reaction is equal to the energy expended. This law has been considered as one of the greatest discoveries made by man.You would be surprised to know that Henry's law is also known as classical mechanics, thermodynamics and chemical equilibrium. Chemistry in general is one of the most developed branches of science. Through this theory, scientists have identified the forces that govern chemical reactions and substances. It is also known as the laws of thermodynamics. It tells us that there are certain rules and laws that we can use to our advantage and that are applied in a vast number of chemical processes.Chemical reactions in general are used to extract the elements from their original state. Substances like water, wood, salt, oil and other substances can be heated and compressed and other compounds can be separated out. The process is repeated, therefore the properties of the substance remain unchanged. When the temperature reaches a certain point, then the process stops.Henry's law tells us that: Every chemical change occurs because the energy expended in such a reaction is equal to the energy supplied in its formation. It is important to understand the concept of energy. An example of how energy is used is the car engine, which is driven by g as. In its initial stages, the gas is very hot and can cause a great deal of harm if used without adequate care. When the gas gets to the car engine, it instantly cools down and starts working properly. If we take a close look at this, then it is obvious that our present world has no such system of protection. Even if the air temperature is a hundred degrees below zero, air cannot protect us from poisonous gases like carbon dioxide.Henry's law basically tells us that a substance cannot get any benefits out of heating up in a medium that is slightly colder than the one where it was created. Without proper knowledge about the properties of different substances, this law cannot be fully understood. If we were to calculate the time taken for a substance to heat up and absorb the same amount of energy that it needed, we will find that the amount of energy that it takes to warm up a substance doubles with each increase in temperature. Therefore, the only way to cool it down is to change th e medium in which it is created.Chemists consider Henry's law as an efficient way of reacting to the changes that occur in a substance. It serves as a valuable guide for us to understand how a substance reacts with its surroundings. It makes sense to adapt the law so that we can use this tool to our advantage. After all, if we want to have life, we must not be aware of the time before we create it.

What You Should Know About Ordering Groceries Online

What You Should Know About Ordering Groceries Online Image via Pixabay.com Not only can time be an issue when you go grocery shopping, but the trip itself can be tiresome. Who actually enjoys going grocery shopping? Even the people waltzing from aisle to aisle in their Grinch pajamas arent dying with excitement to be in a grocery store. Sometimes, the trips can be downright awful. Finding available parking can be tough, especially if you’re at the one grocery store near campus. You know the one. Every college student decides that is the only store in the city and it becomes the designated spot for students to shop. And if parking is bad, then you know the inside of the store is going to be utter chaos. Waiting in line can take thirty minutes at times, even with the addition of self-service checkout stations in many grocery stores. However, if it’s a busy time of the day, even the line for the machines can wind back into the aisles. Don’t get me started on how aggressive people can get while grocery shopping and it happens to be extremely crowded. I’ ve lost count of the number of times that I’ve nearly been mowed down by old ladies whizzing down the spices aisle with their packed carts. Grocery shopping: it’s a dangerous sport. Naturally, when I heard about ordering groceries online, my curiosity was thoroughly piqued. Ordering groceries online is a relatively fast and new way to bring the groceries you need right to your front door, helping you skip the crowds of other grocery shoppers and time restraints. Many grocery stores have implemented this ordering groceries online into one of the services they offer while other companies have made this their specialty. If you’re interested in ordering groceries online, there are several things you should know before you make that first order: 1.  Not every grocery store offers this service. As I mentioned, ordering groceries online is a service that’s still being introduced in many grocery stores. This service is in the testing stage at some place. Stores want to see if this way of getting groceries will prove to be popular or if it’s something that no one will be interested in.  To see if a store offers a way for you to order your groceries online, check out their website and search for an option that will allow you to start adding items to your virtual cart. 2.  You might be paying more money Companies like Instacart, an online grocery-ordering service, offer items from grocery stores at slightly higher prices to help cover the cost of the service. Prices for things like eggs, bread, and cheese might be a little more expensive online. It’s up to you to decide if the increased price is worth the convenience of having your groceries delivered to you. 3.  Some stores offer grocery pickup instead Maybe you’ve noticed those giant, orange parking lots that have started popping up at some Wal-Marts. Those are the pickup areas. Customers can use their Walmart Grocery app to pick out and purchase goods online. After paying online with your credit, debit, or gift card, you’ll select from a list of available pickup times and days. From there, Walmart will notify you when your grocery order has been processed and rounded up by one of their employees. Then, all you have to do is drive into one of the pickup spaces, check in on your app, and an employee will bring your things right out to you. Fun fact: I used this service to pick up two giant bean bags before! It was great!  4. You’ll need to be home if you’re getting groceries delivered to your door This one probably goes without saying but you’ll definitely need to be at home if you ordered groceries online and you’re expecting them to be delivered soon. I list this as a “need to know” item because you should factor this into your decision on whether you want to order groceries online or not. Sometimes, the delivery time will change, according to how fast your delivery person is. If you think you have time to run a quick errand but your delivery person arrives at your house before you’ve finished, it could cause a problem. It’s best to pick a delivery time when you know you’ll have a few hours where you can be at home. 5.  You should tip your delivery person They did a lot of hard work for you! It’s only polite to give them a nice tip. There you have it! Have you decided if online grocery shopping is the thing for you?

The Chemistry Department at Hunter College

The Chemistry Department at Hunter CollegeThe Chemistry Department at Hunter College is one of the most popular in the country, especially in urban areas like New York City. Unlike some schools where the department may be small or only as large as the major, the Department of Chemistry at Hunter College is a department for the whole Hunter College student body.Chemistry is such a broad subject that you can study it at any university as long as it is related to chemistry. The exact word you will hear is 'academic chemistry'academic chemistry and biological chemistry.' Both these disciplines include chemistry for teaching in classrooms, labs, and lecture halls. However, the exact sciences that are taught in the curriculum are different. If you have taken an undergraduate chemistry course, you may have found out that most of the students who get into chemistry graduate at a lesser level. This is because the syllabus that they use at the major college where they are majors are different f rom the syllabus that they will use in their undergrad. If you took biology courses, you will find that your science classes are slightly more challenging and you will probably have to take remedial chemistry if you are not prepared for this. After you take science classes, you may have to take a similar type of chemistry class to follow up with that course. The Chemistry Department at Hunter College has six different science courses, which they offer in a bi-weekly basis. These chemistry courses for biology majors are the following: A Physical and Biological Chemistry, Computational and Quantum Chemical Chemistry, Physics of Nature and Applications, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Molecule Structure and Functions. The chemistry department covers all the sciences necessary for a good university and they offer a lot of supplemental courses, based on the classes that the major and minor course students take. The department also offers a first-year course on organic chemistry. Th is is something that is offered every year at every university. The department has thirty class numbers in all, and each class number has ten to fifteen students in it. Some of the class numbers have no seating on the floor and some have seats in the gymnasium. Each class numbers class has a corresponding chemistry department sign and they have each of their students sit down at their assigned class number when they sit down for their respective chemistry class. In addition to the other chemistry courses that they offer, they also offer four different majors: Biological Engineering, Medical and Clinical Chemistry, Applied and Computational Chemistry, and Computational Analysis and Science. All of these different departments provide students with a full range of scientific knowledge that includes anatomy, botany, geology, biology, chemistry, physics, and all the rest of the sciences of nature.

10 Ways to Memorize French Vocabulary Fast

10 Ways to Memorize French Vocabulary Fast Megan L. Many students struggle with memorizing vocabulary in a foreign language. Tutor  Joan B.  shares her tips for learning new words in French fast Is memorizing vocabulary in French holding you back from speaking fluently and confidently? Recalling vocabulary can be one of the hardest parts of learning a language since the words often seem strange to us and the richness of a language means that there are many words to memorize. Use the following tips to decode vocabulary memorization so you can memorize French vocabulary fast. 1. Get to the Roots Memorize words that share the same root at the same time. For example, when you are learning the word écrire (to write), you can also learn écrivain (writer) and lécrire (the act of writing). This means you will increase your vocabulary exponentially, and words and their meanings will stick more clearly in your memory since youre learning the whole family of words at the same time. 2. Know Your Cognates Make a list of French/English cognates (words that sound the same and share the same meaning in both languages). Once youve identified some cognates youd like to learn, write them on a piece of paper in two columns (one for French and one for English) and quiz yourself by folding the piece of paper vertically in half. Test your ability to produce both the English meaning and the French word. Make flash cards for the ones you dont know, and after quizzing yourself with the flashcards, do a final test with the paper again, making sure you are able to give the French equivalent of the English word. 3. Practice With Your Textbook Most language-learning books have illustrations to introduce vocabulary. Looking at the illustrations, try to describe them using the vocabulary you already know or have studied, and then read the captions underneath the pictures to see how well you did. Notice how the vocabulary words are used in context. 4. Three is a Magic Number If youre really struggling to retain vocabulary words, write each French word three times in French and once in English. Then write the French word again without looking back at what you have just written. Check to see if you have written it correctly. 5. Listen and Repeat Often you can find digital recordings of vocabulary words, pronounced in French and in English (either as part of your textbook or independent of it). Try listening to these once, then repeat each word in French while listening to it a second time. There are many great French videos on YouTube that can help you memorize vocabulary and practice listening and speaking. 6. Use it in a Sentence For each vocabulary word, write a sentence using it. Try to choose a memorable sentence. Context is often a key element in remembering new vocabulary. 7. Make Associations Make associations with words you are familiar with in English. An example of this is the French verb rencontrer. While it means to meet or find, another meaning is to encounter. Create the association between these two similar words so you will be able to recall the meaning and the word itself in French. 8. Word of the Day Choose a word of the day each day. If you have a week to study for a test, or if you set a goal to memorize a list of vocabulary by the end of the week, you can reinforce your vocabulary study by singling out each word. Each day, take the word you have chosen and write it on a few post-its with or without its English equivalent. Place the post-its in places you will see them throughout the day, like the bathroom mirror, the monitor on your computer, or in your planner. You will see the word many times as you go about your day, and by the end of the day it should be permanently ingrained in your memory! 9. Write it Down If your goal is to increase your vocabulary rapidly by quickly memorizing additional words in French, keep a notebook of words youre not familiar with that you encounter in class, in books you read, and in conversations or talk on the radio that you hear. Having a written record of words you are learning allows you to review and track your progress. 10. Do it Daily Make it a regular part of your day. The key to learning vocabulary rapidly is studying it regularly. It doesnt have to be a long time; just a few minutes, each day, can make a huge difference in your retention of the words you learn. Studying vocabulary sporadically isnt as valuable because you may forget the words if you dont review them frequently and consistently. Learning vocabulary can be difficult, but it is well worth your time. A richer vocabulary allows you to communicate more fluidly, understand others and express yourself fully. With these ways to memorize French vocabulary fast, you should be recalling and using new vocabulary in no time! Get more help with your French by working with a private tutor. Physical and chemical changes

Physical and chemical changes Physical and Chemical Changes Chemistry is a study of matter, this includes learning about the physical and the chemical properties of matter. There are different types of matter such as solids, liquids and gases. Different atoms react and form molecules, molecules combine and form compounds, compounds when mixed in different proportions form mixtures. Therefore change is inevitable during reactions. When the change is analyzed it can be of two types either a physical change or a chemical change. Physical Change definition: The change which effects only the physical properties of the compound leaving the composition of the compound unaltered is called a physical change. During a physical change there are no new products formed. This means the physical change is a temporary change. These changes effect either the shape, color, texture, temperature, change in state (either due to the melting point or the boiling point of the substance), density, viscosity, malleability, solubility and any other physical property. Physical change and its effect on water: The composition of water remains the same at different temperatures but there is a change in its physical state, hence this example can be best used to understand the physical change of substances. Water when reaches its boiling point changes to water vapor. There is a change in the state of water from liquid to gaseous state but the composition of the H2O molecule remains the same. Water when reaches the freezing point turns into ice. Here there is a change in the physical state of the matter from liquid to solid but there is no change in the composition of the water molecules. Change in the state: A substance can exists in three states of matter solid, liquid and gases. Solids is a state of matter where the particles are closely bound to each other. A solid substance has a fixed shape and occupies a fixed volume. The particle in a solid state do not have freedom of movement due to its rigid structure. Examples of a solid substance are wood, paper, glass, iron etc. Liquids is a state of matter where there is some space between the particles. A liquid substance has the quality to take the shape of the container it is stored within. Example of liquids are water, juices, petroleum, oils etc. Gases is a state of matter where the particles are freely spaced. There is a lot of freedom of movement between the particles when compared to the other states of matter. Hence the gases have no fixed shape. Example for the gases are water vapor, oxygen, nitrogen and many more. The change from one state to matter to another can be classified as follows: Type of change Change in state of matter Boiling, evaporation Causes liquid change into gaseous state. Melting, fusion Causes solid change into liquid state. Sublimation Causes solid change into gaseous state. Deposition Causes gases change into solid state. Condensation, liquefaction Causes gases change into liquid state. Freezing, solidification Causes liquid change into solid state. Chemical change definition: The change which effects the chemical properties of the compound due to which the composition of the substance changes is called a chemical change. During a chemical change there are new products formed. These changes effect the molecular arrangement of the atoms in a substance due to which the change is permanent. Example for the physical and chemical changes. Physical Change Examples Chemical change Examples Formation of ice from water. Combustion of any substance. Water boiling into water vapor. Acid and bases reacting to form salt and water. Folding of a sheet of paper. Cooking and digestion of food. Deposition Causes gases change into solid state. Melting of the candle wax. Rusting of the iron rod. Mixing sand into a water tank. Fireworks in the sky. Cutting the glass edges. The process of photosynthesis in the plants. Cutting the glass edges. The process of photosynthesis in the plants. Melting of the ice cream. Formation of yogurt from milk. Reversible reactions and irreversible reactions: Reactions are of two types one is reversible reaction and the other is the irreversible reaction. The reaction in which the products can be changed back to the reactants by changing some physical properties of the reaction is called as the reversible reaction. It is usually observed that the reversible reactions are physical change reactions. As there is no quantitative change in the reactants and the products. Example for a reversible reaction: The reaction in which the reactants cannot be changed back to the products is called as the irreversible reaction. Most of the chemical reactions are irreversible reactions as the composition of products is different to that of the reactants. Example for an irreversible chemical reaction: The above example is an acid base reaction where the salt (NaCl) and water is formed. Conservation of Mass: During a physical change the mass of the substance can neither be created nor destroyed. Hence the mass is conserved due to which the initial substance can be regained. During a chemical reaction the mass of the substance is not conserved. This implies that the mass of the initial substance can be different from the mass of the products as the composition of the substance is changed. This means the molecular structure between the atoms is changed due to which the initial substance cannot be regained.

My Experience at University of Massachusetts-Amherst

My Experience at University of Massachusetts-Amherst Tayla received her bachelors degree in finance in 2012 from University of Massachusetts-Amherst. She specializes in algebra tutoring, geometry tutoring, and more. Read on for her review of her experience at University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Describe the campus setting and transportation options. Tayla: The University of Massachusetts, Amherst has a large beautiful campus, in a rural area. They have a public transportation system to take you all across campus (its a 40-minute walk from one end to the other), and the buses are free for all students. The buses can also take you to the surrounding areas which include shopping, downtowns, and neighboring schools. I felt safe on campus; they have emergency telephone stations spread throughout campus, as well as their own police department on campus. I would say due to the rural area of Amherst, one may want to own a car. A bike is also helpful, but only an option for so many months out of the year due to cold weather and snow/icy conditions. How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Tayla: Being that the school is so large, most of the introductory courses have 300+ students, and you are able to meet with the teaching assistants for extra support. However, as you move up in your major the classes become much smaller, and it is easy to access professors during office hours. How would you describe the dorm liferooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Tayla: UMass has the best dining experiences, with their award-winning dining commons and chefs! The options are vast, and I heard they recently opened up a new dining hall with all healthy/alternative options. As for dorm life, the campus is very large with many housing areas. They also have a section for apartments and special housing for honors students. Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? Tayla: Majors and programs that are best supported are the STEM majors and the Isenberg School of Management (which I attended). Most School of Management students had to apply into the school and take prerequisites. I applied into the School of Management and majored in finance. I would say the university did a good job of supporting my area of study. How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Tayla: It was easy for me to meet people and make friends as a freshman. The university sets up a very social atmosphere for the first-year students so that they can make friends and have a great social life. I would say, however, that transfer students maystruggle socially with the transition to a new school. How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services? Tayla: The Isenberg School of Management had its own career center that was separate from the rest of the university, and it was pretty helpful. They held many career fairs and many reputable companies recruit on campus. How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Tayla: UMass Amherst is home to the tallest library in the world, the W.E.B. Dubois library with over 20 floors. The library is open 24 hours and is equipped with a tutor/learning resource center, caf, and many floors and areas to study. The lower levels can get crowded and more social-like, but the upper floors have designated quiet areas and you can usually always find a place to study. Other areas, like classroom buildings, dorms, and student lounges are also areas where people can study. Describe the surrounding town. Tayla: UMass has an exchange program with four other highly accredited schools in the surrounding area. They include Amherst College, Holyoke, Smith, and Hampshire; and you can take classes at any of these institutions. There are also events that are held at these schools, in addition to downtown Amherst and Amherst Center. Students stay on campus and travel for fun; it all depends on what youre doing for the day/night. How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Tayla: I was generally pleased with the typical class size. To me, it is more about how the material taught by the instructor, rather than how many students are around. Check out Taylas tutoring profile. Fighters would face off in temples, generally for festivals and other celebrations. The Thai word ‘muay’ literally means boxer, making the translation of Muay Thai Thai boxing. As a Briton interested in becoming a Muay Thai fighter, you would be designated ‘nac muay farang’, literally ‘foreign boxer’.You cannot be ‘nac muay’ unless you are ethnically Thai. In Thailand, fighters learn Muay Thai techniques at an early age Image by Sasin Tipchai from PixabayMuay Thai is called the Art of Eight Limbs because, as opposed to western styles of boxing that only employ fists as strike points, it permits fists and feet, elbows and knees; eight strike points.Besides kicking, Muay Thai differs from other styles of boxing in other ways. Clinching, prohibited in other combat sports is a ‘legal’ tactic in Muay Thai bouts, as is grappling.Furthermore, the shin is generally used for kicking while the feet are used more as a defensive measure, to push your opponent away. Elbow and knee strikes are particularly dangerous moves both because they are made with hardier body parts and because they can be especially forceful when delivered with the body’s full momentum.A spinning elbow strike is an excellent case in point. To deliver such a blow, the fighter steps into his opponent, pivoting so that his side faces the other fighter. He then finishes the pivot, driving his elbow into the opponent’s ribcage, abdomen or nose.If you can imagine a roundhouse kick with a pointed elbow connecting rather than a foot or a shin, you have the right idea.Other strikes include:Mid-air elbow strike: the fighter leaps up, landing his elbow on the crown of his opponent’s head.Axe heel kick: the fighter kicks his leg up high; on the down-swing, his heel hits his opponent’s head or shoulder.Curving knee kick: same as a roundhouse kick but the knee connects with the ribs rather than the footFlying knee: imagine kneeing someone with force added by a leap upwards. This move can be intensified by holding your opponent in a bent-over position.Knee slap: a good move if your opponent is grappling you; hit him with the inside of your knee.Swan neck: one arm is draped over your opponent’s neck in preparation for a knee strikeYou might think, by these descriptions, that Muay Thai is a particularly brutal combat sport. To an extent, you are right; the d iscipline started as a series of hand to hand combat techniques. The trick is to avoid these strikes while landing blows yourself. That calls for a fair measure of strategy as well as being in peak physical form.Getting in shape is why most Thai boxers in Birmingham practise this martial art; something you too will do once you start your training. Now we will take you on a tour of London's best gyms and clubs for learning Muay Thai. The London Fight FactoryClose to the Old Street roundabout is one of the city’s most popular mixed martial arts gym. There, you will find a wide array of martial arts disciplines to choose from besides Muay Thai: MMA, wrestling, sambo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu among them. The trainers here are experienced martial artists; Muay Thai coach Nick Forrer is himself an experienced fighter. What we really like about this facility is that they expect you to be totally committed to your art, whether you are learning for self-defense or to compete.Of course, there is pl enty more to like, such as their facility with its matted floors, its full array of heavy bags to work on your kicks and punches; the Thai pads and focus mitts to work on your aim and their strength training area, complete with frames and weights. Finally, we love that they offer a free trial session; we couldn’t find a Muay Thai club in Cardiff that offered the same. A major part of your training as a Muay Thai fighter involves working the heavy bag Image by Khusen Rustamov from PixabayDiesel GymIf you have the impression that Muay Thai is a males-only discipline; this club should disabuse you of that notion: not only does Diesel Gym eagerly welcome female fighters, one of their Muay Thai coaches is two-time world champion Amanda Kelly.Diesel Gym recently relocated to a brand new venue in East London, on Dockside Road, in Royal Albert Docks; that means that everything is brand new and squeaky clean â€" or, at least, in good condition. There, you will find everything you need to train as a Muay Thai fighter, from pads and Muay Thai gloves to heavy bags and skipping ropes to get your heart rate up.You may join your coach or fellow martial artists in the ring for a vigorous bout of sparring or simply watch as others as they engage in fights. We really like that there are Ladies Only Muay Thai classes, as well as classes for every level from beginner t hrough professional fighters.Belfast Muay Thai clubs also have some pretty advanced fighters…Cliff Bura joins Amanda Kelly in coaching, adding his more-than 25 years of experience as an international fighter to her championship record, making them one of the most experienced coaching duos in the country.Add that to their exceedingly reasonable rate of £10 per lesson, and… I wish there were a Muay Thai club near me what had that combination!Urban KingsIf you want more than guts and glory out of your time at the gym, this is the club for you. They have a sauna and a juice bar, a massage suite and nutritional coaching on demand.Still, this is no glitzy franchise gym that wants your membership but delivers little in return. Urban Kings has much to offer once you get past that juice bar.Naturally, we are most interested in Muay Thai but here, you may touch of a variety of disciplines, from kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to yoga and strength training. The coaches at Urban Kings ar e all experienced Thai boxers â€" at least, those who train in Thai boxing, and they welcome every age and level of fighter. They offer a variety of membership packages including an unlimited joint membership for £126 per month, per person. If that seems a bit steep, you might consider their individual membership plan; £85 per month buys you unlimited access during off-peak hours.Try as we might, we couldn’t find such a generous membership plan at Muay Thai clubs in Manchester!Naturally, these are not the only gyms in London where you might practise Muay Thai but they are highly rated among fighters and trainees. If you know of a Muay Thai club that deserves mention, why not let us know in the comments below? Now discover Muay Thai clubs in Glasgow that could give London clubs a run for their money…
